SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS

We are pleased to announce the second call for papers for the Advancing Research in Translation and Interpreting Studies (ARTIS) collaboration in research training event, which will be held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 25 to 27 March 2016. We have been greatly encouraged by the positive response to our first call for papers and would like to extend an opportunity to those who were unable to submit abstracts before the first deadline.

This three-day teaching symposium aims to bring together, for the first time, doctoral students, postdoctoral and early career researchers from the region who are exploring new theoretical frameworks and are particularly interested in the use of social narrative theory as a tool for conducting research in the field of translation, interpreting and intercultural studies.Through lectures, workshops, critical discussions and the peer-review of presented papers by participants, the symposium will provide an unprecedented opportunity for emerging T/I scholars to intellectually and critically engage with recent and current thinking on narrative theory, its relevance and applications in the field of translation studies, and ways in which these can inform the development of sound research design and methodologies.

We welcome papers for presentation on any topic within translation, interpreting and intercultural studies, but contributions must clearly draw on social narrative theory.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Please send abstracts of up to 300 words, together with a biographical note (50-100 words), to: artis2016shanghai@gmail.com. Abstracts should be sent as a MS Word document, not PDF. The relevance of the topic to the symposium, i.e. narrative theory and translation studies, broadly defined, should be made explicit.
Elements to be included in the abstract:
1. Title
2. 4-5 keywords
3. Research area, rationale and objectives
4. Data and research methodology
5. Brief summary of outcomes or pursued outcomes
6. Works cited (if any)
Please note that the title, keywords and bibliographical references are not included in the word count.
